[세월호 10주기 기억식에서] 지난 10년 동안 유가족들의 마음이 힘든 것은 정치권에서 이를 제대로 다루지 못했기 때문이 아닐까 생각합니다. 지금까지 진상을 규명하기 위한 많은 노력이 있었지만 한편으로는 아쉬움이 너무 크기에 여러 정부를 지났음에도 아픔이 깊은 것 같습니다. 그런데 또 윤석열 정부 들어서도 이태원 참사, 오송 지하차도와 같은 참사가 반복되고 있습니다. 저는 대통령께서 이러한 부분에 대해 전향적인 생각을 바탕으로 국민을 품는 정치를 해야 한다고 생각을 하고 특히 연장선에서 해병대 채상병 박정훈 대령 관련 사건에 대해서도 현안이 진행되고 있습니다. 이 부분에 대해서도 전향적인 모습을 보여주시는 것이 총선 후 윤석열 대통령에게 기대하는 민심이 아닐까 생각합니다. 개혁신당은 이런 부분을 대통령께서 바로 잡아 주시고 따뜻하게 품어주시길 기대합니다. 10년이 지났습니다. 위로되지 못한 분들과 유가족들의 마음에 저희 개혁신당은 그분들과 계속 함께 하겠다는 말씀드리겠습니다.

Many argue that the lingering heartache persists due to successive governments' inability to address and resolve the underlying issues adequately. Despite extensive efforts to uncover the truth behind the Sewol tragedy, a profound sense of disappointment remains as no administration has fully alleviated the pain. This sentiment underscores a broader frustration with political responses to national tragedies. Under President Yoon Suk Yeol’s administration, similar grievances have emerged following recent disasters such as the Itaewon crowd crush and the Osong underpass flood. These incidents reflect ongoing challenges in public safety and crisis management, echoing the unresolved issues from the Sewol disaster. There is a growing call for President Yoon to adopt a more proactive and transformative approach to governance that genuinely incorporates the concerns and welfare of the citizens. The ongoing issues within the military, exemplified by the Major Park Jung-hoon case, further highlight the need for systemic reform and a more compassionate leadership style. The New Reform Party, advocating for the families, expresses hope that President Yoon will rectify these issues and embrace a more nurturing approach to leadership. It has been a decade, and our commitment to the victims’ families is unwavering. We stand with them in their continuous search for comfort and justice. As South Korea reflects on this tragic anniversary, there is an apparent demand for a shift in how tragedies are handled, signaling a crucial moment for the Yoon administration to heed the call for change and empathy.

[개혁신당 최고회의 후 백브리핑] 저는 당연히 돌아오는 회기 안에서는 제3당의 가치가 무엇인가에 대해서 설명하겠습니다. 특히 제3당이 아까 말했던 것처럼 아직까지도 다수의 국민들은 저희에게 물어보실 겁니다. 너희는 어느 편이냐, 1번 편이냐, 2번 편이냐 이렇게 물어보시겠지만 끝까지 저희는 그 부분에 있어서 합리성을 가지고 가보려고 합니다. 적어도 정치라는 것은 정치인이라고 한다면 정치인, 정당이라고 한다면 국민들보다는 조금 더 고민하고 국민에게 올바른 선택지를 드리는 게 중요하다 이렇게 말씀드리겠습니다.

그래서 당장 1당과 2당 그리고 조국혁신당마저도 예를 들어 김건희 여사에 대한 수사나 이런 문제에 대해서 굉장히 정략적으로 접근하는 모습 많이 보입니다. 그래서 저에게 계속 많이 들어오는 질문이라는 것이 김건희 특검에 대해서 찬성이냐 반대냐 이런 질문을 하신 경우가 있는데요, 저는 김건희 여사와 장모 그리고 처가에 제기된 여러 가지 의혹 사안들이 사안별로 매우 다르다고 생각합니다. 그래서 저희가 얘기할 때, 때로는 양평고속도로건 같은 경우에는 국정조사와 같은 방식을 활용해야 된다. 그리고 도이치모터스(사건) 같은 경우에는 이미 검찰 수사가 진행되었지만은, 다수의 국민들이 또 그 부분에 대해서 수사가 미진하나 판단한다면 특검을 추진한 것은 옳을 수 있다 라는 생각을 하고, 거기에 대해서 디올백 문제나 이런 경우에는 우선 영상으로 많은 국민들이 봤기 때문에 이 사안의 사실 관계에 대해서 다투는 것은 큰 의미가 없을 것이다.

그러면 이게 재발방지가 되기 위해서는 정치가 풀어내야 된다. 특별감찰관을 임명한다든지 아니면 영부인의, 저희가 개혁신당을 만들고 나서 영부인의 법적 지위에 대해서 저희가 입법을 해야 된다는 취지로 공약을 발표한 적이 있는데요 그런 부분은 정치 영역에서 풀어내야 되는 것입니다. 이 세 가지를 저는 나눠서 이야기하고 싶습니다. 그리고 저는 이게 정답에 가깝다고 봅니다. 이렇게 이야기하면 언론인들께서 어떻게 적어주시느냐에 달려있긴 하지만 국민들께서는 가장 매운맛을 원하는 경우도 있고 국민들께서는 결사옹위하는 국민의힘의 모습을 지지하는 분들이 있다보니까 이게 사실 제3당이 어려움을 겪는 지점일 겁니다. 하지만 저희는 그런 합리성과 가장 옳은 답변을 내는 정당이 될 수 있도록 저희가 회기 중에 계속 노력하도록 하겠습니다 감사합니다. 

[New Reform Party Superior Council Post-Meeting Briefing] During the upcoming Congregational session, I will explain the significance of being a third party in our political system. Often, people ask us whose side we are on—whether we align with the first or second major parties. We strive to maintain rationality in our position. After all, if one is in politics, it is paramount that politicians and political parties contemplate more deeply than the average citizen and offer them the most suitable choices.

Currently, both the first and second parties and the National Innovation Party approach issues such as the investigation of Madame Kim Gun-hee in a highly strategic manner. I often receive questions about whether I support or oppose the special investigation into Mrs. Kim Keon-hee. The allegations against her, her mother-in-law, and her family vary significantly, and depending on the issue, different measures like a national audit for the Yangpyeong Highway case or a special prosecutor for unresolved cases like Deutsch Motors may be warranted. Many have seen through videos for other matters, such as the Dior bag incident, debating the facts might not be meaningful. To prevent such issues from recurring, politics must find solutions. This could involve appointing a special inspector general or legislating the legal status of the First Lady, as promised in the New Reform Party's platform.

These are issues that need to be resolved within the political sphere. I want to discuss these three points separately, and the outcomes depend on how the media present them. Some citizens crave more drastic action, and others staunchly support the conservative approach of the People Power Party. This can be challenging for a third party, but we are committed to continuing our efforts to provide rational and correct answers during the next term.
